5 Easy Steps to Changing your Health

We’ve clicked over into January and while my biggest hope is that you’re still high on the freshness of the new year, the truth is that by now, it’s not uncommon for a side serve of doubt, a tinge of fear, or some funky jive talk like ‘who am I to even do this?’ to start finding its way into your internal dialogue.

In fact, if you look around, you may notice that many among us are sleepwalking through life. Friends, family members, the masses – it’s incredibly common and incredibly sad.

And if you look at yourself, you may notice that you too are among the living dead.

You may be tempted to ask, “How did this happen? How long has it been going on for? How did I get here?”

Who cares?

Life is short.

Don’t waste another second in no-man’s land!

The key to the rest of your life – the best time to begin anything – is always right now.

The greatest opportunity in the world, is right where you happen to be right now.

And there are few things you can do to impact your life more powerfully, profoundly and permanently than changing the way you eat.

Every morsel of food that enters into your mouth has a direct impact on your body, mind and spirit. I learned this firsthand when I changed my own diet. Not only did my body change, but I felt happier, healthier, and more positive than ever before.

Something shifted inside me that I never expected or even thought to look for. But there it was. Changing the way I ate changed my world and completely changed who I was. And it only improved from there.

Today, I credit everything good in my life to my illness and cannot imagine who I would be had I not seen the light that fateful day.

At some point in our lives, every one of us gets an important call from the “this is your chance” hotline.

You realise that the only way to get out of the rubble is to rebuild a more sustainable you.

In that instant, your inner power wakes up to the holy, “Wow, I am worth it” truth.

Good-bye, woe-is-me-thinking, and hello, royal care.

And today is your day, beautiful.

All you need to do is take the first step.

Get excited. Pee a little. This is huge! 😉


Order of business:

Step 1: Create a reasonable, yet challenging goal for yourself.

It can be as basic as “no soft drink” or as advanced as “totally plant-based.” You decide what you’re up for and can handle. Stretch yourself a little beyond your comfort zone.

Be mindful of the language you use when staking your new claims. Keep it positive and productive.

For example: “I’m going to treat my temple to water instead of toxic soft drink,” as opposed to “I have to give up soft drink for a month… how am I gonna live?”


Step 2: Set a date in the next few weeks, and commit to trying 21 days with this new lifestyle.

We all know that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, but whether that is based on fact or not, in the words of Richard Scott:

We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day.

I personally use an app, streaks – motivational calendar, a powerful tool to track the consecutive days it takes to reach a goal. Each day you accomplish your task, mark it on the calendar, and motivate yourself to keep the streak going!


Step 3: Enlist a friend.

There is nothing better than having support and camaraderie when tackling a goal. While you gripe, groan, and suffer, at least you can do it together.

When it’s all said and done, I can 100% guarantee that you will feel so amazing you will stick with it even after it’s over.

So choose someone (or even a few) who you know will be up for the challenge, will support you when you’re down, and who won’t let you quit on yourself.


Step 4: Get prepared.

Clear all the crap out of your kitchen, stock your fridge and pantry with the right foods. Have fun with it. Check out new cookbooks, go online for recipes, etc. You can eat well and enjoy food and so you should!


Step 5: The pinky promise.

With enrolled friend, look in each other’s eyes and shake pinkies to seal the deal. State out loud what your intentions are and your start and stop dates – to yourselves, to each other, to the Universe.

This is real. This is where the magic truly and really happens. This is where you actually CHANGE your LIFE!
